Montreal/Ottawa (May 18th-26th – 2014) Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Yemen, Dr Ahmed Al Emad, Participates with Abdullah Ahmed Bugshan, Chairman of the Board of Hadhramout Establishment for Human Development in a Student Event in Montreal
On May 23, 2014, the Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy, Dr Ahmed Al Emad, visited Montreal to participate with Yemeni businessman, Mr Abdullah Bugshan, Chairman of the Hadhramout Establishment for Human Development, in a gathering of approximately 70 students invited from across Canada. The guests, all scholarships recipients under the auspices of his organization, arrived at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal. The goal of the event was to assist Mr. Bugshan in his assessment of the current program in order to increase its capacity; identify and incorporate more universities; address challenges; and continue to ensure that academic qualifications remain relevant to the future well-being of the students and Yemen. Later in the evening during a formal dinner at the hotel, Dr Al-Emad spoke of the enduring importance of education and this scholarship program in particular. He also impressed upon the students that the doors of the Embassy in Ottawa are always open to them. He also presented a plaque of appreciation to Mr. Bugshan in recognition of his profound generosity and noble investment in the pursuit of knowledge to benefit humanity and Yemen. In response, Mr. Bugshan remarked upon the significance of pursuing one’s goals; and the great responsibility that they all now share in creating a new Yemen. As part of the ceremonies, certificates of merit were awarded to the many graduating students who had distinguished themselves in their academic achievements; and then the evening evolved into a festive night of traditional music and dancing in typical Yemeni fashion.
