Friday, May 7th, 2010 AMBASSADOR HOSTS DINNER AT RESIDENCE IN HONOUR OF VISITING The Residence was bustling with activity last Friday night when an illustrious gathering of present and former parliamentarians and diplomats, academics and senior executives, gathered together to welcome HE Muhadeen Al Dhabi, Yemen’s Assistant Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs who was visiting Ottawa, on his way to Washington DC. The guest list brought together a particularly dynamic group of individuals with extraordinary experience in International and in particular, Middle Eastern affairs. Guests included many familiar names including the Speaker of the Senate, Noel Kinsella, who is a great friend to Yemen. With much common ground the conversation was both intellectually stimulating and enlightening. Discussion of the current situation in the Middle East and Yemen was articulate and motivating, with observations and positive suggestions based on in-depth perspectives from personal experience in the region. Most importantly, it was an evening of realization of the great international and cultural bonds of friendship that continue to grow between Canada, the Middle East and Yemen. The evening’s enjoyment was further enhanced by the familiar and delicious Yemeni cuisine. |
